DIMETHYLSULPHOXIDE (Dimexide) is a medecine, anti-inflammatory and analgesic medicament.

It was first synthesized in 1866 by the chemist Oleksandr Zaitsev by oxidizing dimethyl sulfide with nitric acid.

During the next few decades, the research of the properties of this compound in the absence of a systematic nature, was actively used during the First World War in army hospitals during the treatment of injuries, fractures, and wounds. Non-toxicity and non-accumulation in the body contributed well to this.

PHARMACOLOGICAL EFFECT OF DIMEXIDE

The basis for its use is its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect due to the inactivation of hydroxyl radicals and improvement of metabolic processes in the focus of inflammation, inhibition of the conduction of nociceptive impulses in peripheral neurons, as well as antagonism of the vascular effects of histamine, bradykinin and bradykinin.
