APPLICATION OF ALOE IN GYNECOLOGY. USEFUL PROPERTIES

#SYSTEMPHARM #UKRAINE

In ancient times, aloe was called the “paradise tree”. Information about the use of aloe juice was found in Egyptian papyri, in ancient Chinese scrolls of herbal medicine, where Chinese doctors called it “medicine of harmony”, and you can also read in the New Testament about the use of this miracle plant.

Almost 400 types of aloe grow in the world, but only 20 of them are attributed with healing properties. Two species are used in cosmetics and dermatology: tree-like aloe (Aloe arborescens Mill) and aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Mill). Today, aloe is used not only as a food and cosmetic raw material, but also as a component of medicines and biologically active supplements.

The pulp contained in aloe leaves is its most valuable element. It contains 96% water and a number of other ingredients, including:

🔹 minerals (calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, sodium, potassium, chromium, phosphorus);

🔹 vitamins All from group B, including vitamin B12, beta-carotene, choline, folic acid;

🔹 amino acids: alanine, arginine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tyrosine and valine;

🔹 proteins: lectins (take part in various interactions between cells, for example, in the regulation of cell adhesion);

🔹 unsaturated fatty acids: linoleic, caprylic, palmitic, stearic;

🔹 steroid alkaloids: lupeol (natural salicylic acid), magnesium lactate;

🔹 anti-inflammatory substances: beta-sitosterol (helps reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood), campesterol (protects joints and bones from degradation);

🔹 antimicrobial substances: cinnamic acid, phenols, sulfur compounds;

🔹 anthraquinones and their derivatives: aloin, barbaloin, isobarbaloin, anthracene, anthranol, aloetic acid, emodin, esters of cinnamic acid, chrysopranoic acid, resistanol. Of these substances, aloin and emodin show side effects, so it is recommended to use the plant with caution.

🔹 enzymes: peroxidase, amylase, cellulase, catalase, oxidase, carboxypeptidase;

🔹 polymers: lignins (some studies show that thanks to these ingredients aloe vera has the ability to more actively penetrate the epidermis);

🔹 saponins: compounds from the group of glycosides that have a viscous, slightly disinfecting effect;

🔹 carbohydrates: acetylated mannan, acetylated glucomannan, glucogalactomannan, galactan, arabinogalactan, pectin substances;

🔹 saccharides (polysaccharides): mannose, glucose, L-rhamnose, aldopentose.

The main and most important substance found in the Aloe Vera plant is acemannan, which is attributed to a wide range of medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects. It has been found that acemannan induces macrophages to secrete interferon and therefore can help in the treatment and prevention of viral infections.

Thanks to such a combination of useful substances, the use of aloe in gynecology leads to positive dynamics of clinical symptoms within a short time. Many women use this medicinal plant to treat erosion of the cervix, treat infections and restore the mucous membrane of the genital organs.
